VALUES
Center for Advanced Individualized Learning (CAIL) empowers youths with disabilities to acquire living abilities in the areas of socialization, education, activities of daily living, and advocacy. CAIL also provides underserved and underrepresented youths with skills to support employment, socialization, independence, and self-advocacy skills. Additionally, CAIL provides training for parents of individuals with disabilities, underprivileged, and underserved youths. This training will utilize individualized accommodated curriculum, targeted implementation, and training.
OUR STORY
CAIL started after a conversation with a parent of a special need young adult. After the pandemic, most students in transition services, had regressed due to inconsistent implementation of IEPs. This parent was worried about the future of her child who had not only regressed but was aging out of the school system. On further investigation, there was an abundance of data and experiences of similar parents having the same issue. Some of their questions included “what next” and “what happens when I am not here”. Youth with special needs may not reach their full potentials and independence without effective targeted intervention of skills training. The founders of CAIL recognized this gap and an opportunity to serve these individuals and their families through the provision of appropriate student-centered curriculum at the support center.
